Sessions
Training sessions are $100 each. Sessions are designed to run about 60 minutes, sometimes a little longer or shorter. Because every plan is built around your dog, the total depends on which services you need. For example, Verbal Markers takes one or two sessions, and a full Fundamentals build is about seven.
Group Lessons are $30 per dog. E-Collar Training is billed per session, plus the cost of the collar.
The consult deposit
Every client starts with an In-Home Consult, booked with a $30 deposit. The deposit:
- is paid at the consult
- is credited toward your first training session if you book within 60 days
- is non-refundable
- is waived if I decide at the consult that I can’t help your dog
Mileage
I train in El Paso County at no extra cost. In the travel area (Teller, Douglas, Elbert, Pueblo, Fremont, and Lincoln counties), there’s a mileage fee of $0.70 per mile, round trip from the El Paso County line, per visit. Travel-area clients book by email so I can plan drive time.
Equipment
At the consult, we’ll go over what you have and what you need. Some gear you own may be the wrong size.
- Treat pouch: I used to use pockets, but a dedicated pouch is a game changer.
- 6"–3’ leash: Light enough that your dog can wear it with a pinch collar without accidental discomfort.
- 8’–30’ leash: Long enough for recalls and freedom on enrichment walks.
- Herm Sprenger pinch collar: It looks mean, but it’s a game changer. It’s less likely to injure your dog than a flat collar (I’ll explain at the consult), and it delivers low-intensity aversive stimulation safely while still extinguishing behaviors.
- Harness or agitation collar: Something your dog can pull against to build frustration without hurting their throat. Some dogs can get by with a flat collar.
- Muzzle: I require muzzle training even if your dog isn’t dangerous. It gives us a controlled way to practice habituation with rewards or corrections. It also means that in Group Lessons, every dog that needs a muzzle is wearing one.
- For some small breeds, like pugs, a muzzle is overkill. In those cases an Elizabethan collar works: it gives us the same controlled practice on gear you’re more likely to use.
Equipment buyback
Equipment I buy for you can be sold back to me at 90% of its value when training ends. That gear goes to future clients who need to save money. Do the math: if I buy back the same piece of gear 10 times, some lucky handler gets it free.
Payment
Cash, check, Venmo, or Zelle, paid at the consult and at each session. See How do I pay, and what if I cancel late?
