The path through fear or aggression can be long and hard, and sometimes you need help. I pick up your dog for desensitization sessions, and we work toward habituation.
Overview
Together we identify the cause of your dog’s reactivity and agree on a plan. The plan depends on the cause: fear-based reactivity needs very different methods than predatory reactivity.
Fear-based reactivity
For fear, we work on desensitization and counterconditioning. We bring your dog closer to their trigger and use classical conditioning to change the association from danger to fun, food, or at least no fear, until they reach habituation.
Predatory reactivity
Predatory aggression can only be solved with Traditional training, also called escape and avoidance training (training styles). We will:
- Muzzle train your dog
- Condition a no marker
- Condition leash pressure
- Hold your dog accountable with predictable consequences for their choices
