Heeling
A fun, endlessly improvable skill that builds your bond and keeps your dog safe.
Heeling is a ton of fun. We tend to think of it as hard work, but it isn’t. It solves all sorts of problems. You might be thinking, “It’ll fix my leash pulling.” It will, but Verbal Markers already gave us the tools for that.
What heeling really gives us is a dynamic skill we can always improve. It helps with reactivity, keeps your dog safe near traffic, holds their attention around other dogs and distractions, charges our markers, and strengthens your bond. You can heel from room to room, before dinner, out in the world, almost anywhere.
Styles we work on:
- Casual heeling
- Contact heeling
- Focused heeling
- Heeling while running
- Heeling while riding a bike
- Heeling while driving a car
This session is mostly hands-on, with little discussion.
