We haven’t. Every earlier session built engagement through distractions to make this part easy and fun. This session isn’t where we teach recall; it’s where we bulletproof it.
We play a variety of recall games with lots of positive reinforcement. But we also need an environment stimulating enough to call for some negative reinforcement or correction. Neither of us wants your dog to ignore a recall in a dangerous situation. The aversives I use are controlled and won’t harm your dog. The aversives the world uses to enforce a recall can be fatal, so we do this right.
